Loot Vintage Rentals - The Scoop

Rhoda and Anna from Loot Vintage Rentals ...

Why do you do what you do? We were both born into families that relish trinkets from the past and find value in a good garage sale. We always love to find objects that have a little wear and tell a story. We have a passion for saving these pieces from ruin and giving them a new life while they still wear the age of their past. Each piece we share through Loot is an extension of our love for the art of antique collecting and junking combined. (That, and we're trying to channel our hoarding tendencies into something a little more lucrative).

What should brides/grooms/curious seekers know about you? We LOVE what we do and we think it shows in our work. We feel the same excitement the bride and groom do each and every time they walk into our studio for the first time and start picking out pieces. We go above and beyond to make our clients happy with our custom touches and styling services. Also, Anna makes a mean Bloody Mary and Rhoda can hammer out a awesome garland while cooking dinner and folding laundry.

What makes a wedding super rad to you? When a couple does what is right for them. They have their own style and want to convey it in every aspect of their wedding. This approach leads to fresh ideas and out-of-the-box thinking, which we love! And good food.

Name one thing about a wedding that you would like to see changed. More Dancing!

Moon Canyon Design Co. - The Scoop

Kristen of Moon Canyon Design...

Why do you do what you do? What tickles our fancy the most is being able to transform the energy of a space, create an experience, and tell a story for our clients. We get super excited in each stage of the process. Everything from our first brainstorming session to the pinning of the boutonnieres on the big day is done with love and focus. Its fun for us from beginning to end.

What should brides/grooms/curious seekers know about you? The girls of Moon Canyon are just giddy over design and materials. We love to keep inspired and work with vendors who have passion for their craft. It's not an uncommon scene to find one of us ladies obsessing over a new ceramics artist, furniture maker, or textiles designer. I think at our core we dig the craft of craft.

What makes a wedding super rad to you? Location, location, location! The venue is so important in helping to determine the decor and style of the wedding. Whether the event is held in a ball room or in a backyard the location is the tapestry for a magical day. Let the space be your guide.

Name one thing about a wedding that you would like to see changed. FLOW. Often the harshness of "timeline" can feel awkward. Pictures now, cake now, dance now. We would like to see more of a balance struck between what is expected to happen and the beauty of the moment.

The Creative Parasol - The Scoop

Lauren from The Creative Parasol...

Why do you do what you do? I love everything about graphic design, especially paper and typography. Weddings allow me to do what I love and contribute to the most important day in someone's life, which is pretty awesome. There's nothing more gratifying than knowing you've created something that truly represents the bride and groom—and that they'll cherish for years to come.

What should brides/grooms/curious seekers know about you? There are plenty of options out there if you're looking for traditional invitations. If you've seen exactly what you want, chances are you're better off ordering what you saw. My clients come to me because what they want doesn't exist yet—and they want their paper goods to be as cohesive and reflective of their personalities and wedding theme as possible.

What makes a wedding super rad to you? My favorite weddings are the ones where personality trumps "pretty". Even if it's the cheesiest thing ever, every wedding needs that extra element that really reflects who the the couple is.

Name one thing about a wedding that you would like to see changed. You hear the words "supposed to" or "have to" a lot in wedding planning. I always tell my clients to ignore what etiquette and tradition might dictate and do what feels the most comfortable for them! When it comes to paper goods, that might mean nixing the "Mr. and Mrs." when addressing their invitations because their wedding just isn't formal, or foregoing a guest book for an awesome poster.

You will meet some rad people at THE CREAM. What makes a good first impression to you? I have a lot of respect for the creative geniuses in our industry today and love that most of them seem really open to collaborating and building relationships with other vendors. I can't wait to connect with them…and brides and grooms too!

Whipped cream or Cool whip? Homemade whipped cream

Citrus or fern? Citrus

Pre party or After party? You gotta do both

Salty or Sweet? Salty

Banjo or Ukulele? Banjo

Stripes or Polka dots? STRIPES

Home cooked or Take out? Home cooked

Champagne or Scotch? Gotta have bubbles

Blues or Country? Blues

Penthouse or Outhouse? I draw the line at outhouse…penthouse for sure.

After helping tons of clients plan the most important occasions of their lives and seeing how stressful the process can be, I developed a passion to inspire others to create wedding and parties that are all about fun...especially for the bride and groom! While the big day should be beautiful, creative and unique, the most important thing to remember is that it's about creating unforgettable moments with family & friends.

Brides who feel pressured to compare their weddings to what they see in wedding mags or the blogosphere. our wedding is not a photo shoot, and you don't have to make every single detail perfect. You will meet some rad people at THE CREAM. What makes a good first impression to you? When I meet talented florists, planners, photographers and designers, I love seeing that passion in their eyes and their smiles that causes them to be truly excited about new projects and clients. Southern Weddings Mag - The Scoop

Emily of Southern Weddings Magazine...

Why do you do what you do? We love love, and we love the South! Southerners have hearts like you'll find nowhere else in the world, and that results in the most meaningful, beautiful weddings anywhere. (We may be a bit biased, but still.)

What should brides/grooms/curious seekers know about you? Every year, the entire Southern Weddings team visits the mall to take a photo with Santa. And then we post the evidence on our blog. Nothing like standing in line with preschoolers to get you in the holiday spirit! :) Also, we just launched two brand new features on our blog, the Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory and the Honey List.

What makes a wedding super rad to you? The FOOD. Southern food... my stars, there's nothing like it. Barbecue, deviled eggs, biscuits, pie, fried chicken, okra, sweet tea, lemonade, ham biscuits, mac and cheese, pickles, homemade preserves... we love it all!

Name one thing about a wedding that you would like to see changed. It makes us die a little on the inside every time we see a couple breeze right past their ceremony on the way to the reception. The ceremony is such an awesome, important event, with the potential to be life changing, so please! Make it special, and meaningful, and intentional.

You will meet some rad people at THE CREAM. What makes a good first impression to you? Cowboy boots.

Sum it up:

Whipped cream or Cool whip? Whipped cream.

Charades or Movie night? Charades all the way! My family plays a massive game of "Celebrity" every Christmas, so I'm kind of an expert.
