Round Up: charley*star

Meet charley*star - she finds the sweet blend of playful whimsy and romance while capturing those special little moments on your big day. See her work here and here and come see her in person at HITCHED!

Why do you do what you do?
because it’s creative and i’m surrounded by joy and love, not to mention all the great design. plus, i’m not a fit for a cubicle job.

What should brides/grooms know about your service?
that i put my heart and soul into my work… and that if i end up falling in love with them while shooting their wedding and editing their photos, i am not a freaky stalker. it’s just what i do. i get emotionally involved. J
What makes a wedding super rad to you?
when you can feel the love… when a couple successfully merges MEANING with FUN, when a wedding is intimate and personal, when a couple writes their own vows (and heck, even the entire ceremony), and when they throw a great party and dance the night away with friends and family to celebrate!

Name one wedding tradition that you wish to see re-invented.
the Grand Exit. i can appreciate couples wanting to hang out and party with their guests until the wee hours, but i really love a big, marked “send off” for the bride and groom into their new lives as Mr. and Mrs… leaving under a canopy of well-wishes, hoorahs and… sparklers, trumpets, flowers, balloons – whatever – the possibilities are endless — and riding off in a stylishly decorated… bicycle, vintage car, bus, elephant, horse and buggy, whatever. not only is it fun for the couple to be sent off with such a big “to-do,” but it makes for a great photo-op!

What do you want the guests at HITCHED to remember about you?
that i’ll be the uber-prego photographer with an artistic flair, that loves to photograph unique weddings & cool couples.

In a nutshell:

Camping or Glamping? glamping while camping

Cake or pie? cake.

Beach or desert? beach

French wine or Mexican beer? Mexican beer on a hot day, wine at night.

Beatles or Stones? hmm… i’ll take some trip-hop or good house music over either.

Mac or PC? Mac

Plaid or stripes? Stripes.

Boots or sneakers? these days, sneaks.

Night owl or early bird? night owl!

French fries or milkshake? fries. with lots of ketchup.

Cat or dog? Dog.

Hay or Chivari chairs? hay bales, but in a sophisticated environment. i love mixing styles.

Round-Up: Annie McElwain

Howdy buckaroos. Check out our quick low-down on photographer Annie McElwain. C'mon down to HITCHED and meet her in real time. We'll be rounding-up all our snagees and some surprise round-ups with friends + supporters of our lil' hoedown. Meet: Annie.

1. Why do you do what you do?

I think at the end of the day, life is about relationships. I love to celebrate relationships and I find meaning in giving people something that allows them to remember and cherish the people they love.

2. What should brides/grooms know about your service?

I like to get to know / become friends with the couple leading up to their wedding. I like to connect apart from business and go to a happy hour or grab a cup of coffee before the wedding and have good conversation. The feedback I’ve heard, from my clients, is that they felt comfortable with me—which I love because it allows me to really capture the essence of a couple.

3. What makes a wedding super rad to you?

When a bride and groom make their wedding their own. When they add personal touches that feel right to them—and are less concerned with what is “supposed” to happen. I love when they feel completely comfortable just being themselves, being present in the moment, and willing to feel any emotion that comes up—joy, tears, nerves—I love capturing what’s real. I love capturing their unique story.

4. Name one wedding tradition that you wish to see re-invented.

Honeymoons! I hear some people don’t take honeymoons or take them months after their wedding. I do not think you should go to work the Monday after your wedding.

5. What do you want the guests at HITCHED to remember about you?

I’m the fun blond photographer you want to shoot your wedding.

In a nutshell:
